Warm and welcoming the family-run Antico Borgo Petralia sits just outside the historic village of Zafferana Etnea in the Mount Etna Regional Park. Acquired as abandoned farmland by the current owner's father he discovered the ruins of a hidden ancient hamlet and over 10 years set about painstakingly restoring the stone buildings used for stables and grape pressing then opening as an hotel in 2011.

Blending well into its surroundings Antico Borgo Petralia boasts stunning views and has large indoor and outdoor dining areas, a swimming pool with sun terrace, pretty courtyard and gardens carved out of the mountainside. The interior is traditionally furnished with comfortable individually styled bedrooms.

A delicious breakfast and dinner - served on the terrace in warm weather - include an array of local seasonal ingredients.
